Evolve Monstar

Okay, so I mentioned earlier that I'm rapidly falling in love with Mozart and opera and so on. But just before that, I was praising Coheed and Cambria.

I haven't had a chance to put the classical and opera music on my Zune yet, so guess what I was listening to earlier. Yep. Coheed.

They're still amazing. Straight up. I think the only other modern bands to be able to get an emotional response from me are Thrice and Emery (unsurprisingly, these are the other two of my top three currently performing bands).

Hmm. Really. I'm always impressed when a band can invoke an emotional response in me. I'm admittedly a fairly "soft" guy when it comes to having emotional responses to things, but few bands really get to me emotionally.

There's something magical in effect, I think, in order for an emotional response to hit. There's gotta be a certain power in the music as well as the lyrics. Not only in the writing, but also in the execution.

I can't pinpoint the exact details, but I can say that Thrice's Artist in the Ambulance album pulls this off with every track.

I can also say that I hope to someday write music that powerful.

I have so much more work to do.
