Intro to Mozart

So... this morning was like the last couple before it... I got sick on my way to school. (Though I pat myself on the back for roughing it out... getting to school on time in spite of having a heaving fit while waiting on the bus.) Made it to political science class. Got annoyed with the people there, but rode it out, collecting the information that was actually useful.

Then came music class.

Great music class today. Like. Couldn't have gone much better.

I was expecting to keep going over non-dominant seventh chords, but that's not what happened. Two things I was not expecting happened.

The first is that, in spite of many available seats, my almost-rival from last term, a nice and very cute girl (who gave me a challenge when it came to being the quickest to finish a test well... thus the almost-rival status) sat next to me. No complaints about that.

The second thing that happened (and yes guys, you can hate me for this) was far more mindblowing and awesome.

We had an introduction to Mozart.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know as much classical music as I should... by any stretch of the imagination. Still... today... being properly introduced to Mozart by someone who knows what's up... left me dumbfounded.

Listened to some pieces from piano concertos, some operas, a clarinet quintet, some symphonies.

"Wow" is pretty much the only expression to come close to reflecting my response. The music is so beautiful, so dynamic... I honestly wish I were listening to it over Coheed and Cambria right now (which is no small claim... see my previous post).

Alas. I can't update my Zune from school.

Basically... I want to listen to more Mozart... but I also have that "that's so cool... I wanna do that!" mentality going on right now. I'm no child prodigy... but it would be so awesome to hit the composing hardcore.

I especially want to look into opera.
